Meet Our Teachers
Cassandra Shive – English/Tutor
I am the middle and upper school Literature teacher and 8th grade homeroom advisor. I graduated from Shippensburg University in 2012 with a BA in English. Currently, I’m working on my master’s degree at Kutztown University. Before coming to Gillingham in 2014, I spent two years working as a baker at Sublime Cupcakes in Wyomissing. I grew up in the Lehigh Valley, but currently reside in Wyomissing. In my free time, I enjoy cooking and baking, reading, and doing yoga.
Staci Luck – Special Education Teacher
My name is Staci Luck. This is my third year at Gillingham and this year I am teaching special education. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Gwynedd-Mercy University in Elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Education along with certifications in Middle School math, science, English, and history. When I am not teaching, I enjoy coaching our Spirit Team, reading, and quilting. I am also a new homeowner and spend quite a bit of time working on renovations and taking care of a dog, horse, and 4 pigs with my fiance.
ElizaRae Michaud – Humanities
Originally from Pine Grove, Pa., I am a cum laude graduate of Kutztown University with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a minor in social studies. I started substitute teaching at Gillingham in 2012, and I am now entering my fourth year. I teach literature, history, and nature study for the 2016/2017 school year. I currently live in Bethlehem, and I enjoy being a mom to my 18th month old daughter, Isabella Antoinette. I enjoy sports, thrifting, music, reading classics, and vacationing on the beach. I am currently planning a wedding and about to pursue a master’s in education.
Kara Stalter – Reading Specialist (K-12)
This is my fifth year at Gillingham, and I serve as the school Reading Specialist, as well as the Assessment/Title I Coordinator. Although I reside in Berks County, working here in Pottsville is where I learn to live, not just to teach. I wholeheartedly believe in this philosophy of education, having seen first-hand the growth of our students. I finished my Master’s degree from Kutztown University in July of 2016 and am thrilled to be a Reading Specialist. When I am not at Gillingham working with the children and teachers, I most enjoy playing the piano and guitar, singing, taking walks, playing games, writing, and reading missionary stories. Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Carrie Miller – Art Teacher
I am the K-12 Visual Arts Teacher, Yearbook Advisor, and Senior Class Homeroom Co-Advisor. I received my M.Ed. in Education in May 2015 at Kutztown University, and received my BFA at the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1993, where I majored in Illustration. In May 2012, I obtained my K-12 Art Education Certification from Kutztown University. Before choosing to go back to school in 2010, I worked as a graphic designer for 12 years. My research examines students’ attitudes toward the processes and products of drawing, with a focus on the skill-creativity relationship in the classroom. I live in Frackville with my husband and two boys. I enjoy being a mom, drawing, watching movies, reading, shopping and watching my boys play sports!
